Welcome...

My name is Greg Partch. I am the Director of Education Technology for the Hudson Falls Central School District, a sitting member of the University of the State of New York Technology Policy and Practices Council (USNYTPPC), an advisory board member for Liberia Renaissance Education Project in Liberia, and most importantly friend and advocate for our unofficial adopted son Gabriel Ologun. Gabe wants to become a doctor. Gabe has completed his second semester as a Biology major at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, and recently been accepted to the University of New York at Albany as a pre-med student. Gabe is from Nigeria with little or no resources other than the support provided by my wife and me in the form of food, lodging, clothing, transportation, and some limited finances. We met Gabe a year ago last fall when Gabe began attending our church in Poultney, Vermont. Gabe is a wonderful young man and a devout Christian; we think the world of him and will do all we can to support him in his quest to become a doctor to return to Nigeria to assist his fellow countrymen.

Spring 2006 Gabe worked full-time at Green Mountain College (40+ hours) while maintaining a full course load as a Biology major. Green Mountain College, a small, rural college, provided Gabe with an excellent opportunity to become part of the community during his first year in America. He joined the intramural frisbee team, the local Methodist Church choir, and became very popular with both the student and faculty populations. Fall semester 2006 Gabe carried 19 credit hours while working 62+ hours per week for the college (to pay his tuition) and earned a 3.933 GPA for the semester dropping his GPA YTD to a 3.97. All his salary (minimum wage) went back to the college to pay his outstanding tuition. Had it not been for our intervention Gabe would have been forced back to Nigeria last fall. This past summer (2007) Gabe worked two full-time jobs Monday through Saturday with only one day off per week. As a result Gabe has paid back his outstanding tuition ($4500) at Green Mountain College and has managed to accumulate $4000 dollars in savings.

A very good friend and colleague Dr. Dennis Harper, CEO and founder of Generation Y www.geny.org has established a scholarship fund for Gabe “The Gabriel Ologun Education Fund”; all funds received for Gabe’s education move through Dennis’s non-profit 501 c3 organization as a tax deductible contribution and passed on directly to SUNY Albany in its entirety for Gabe’s tuition and college expenses. Your assistance and support for this proven and deserving young man will be most appreciated.

Respectfully,
  Gregory A. Partch
